Gusty winds on an early Monday morning gave one Maianbar resident a shocking wake up call when a ten ton tree came crashing down. Video
The Pacific Cr home owner had just finished showering and was walking towards the bedroom when the tree collapsed onto the bedroom roof from strong winds. The damage was significant with the roof centre terracotta tiles giving way and exposing the timber frame of the home. The side wall the tree came down on had severe cracks through out the brick work.
It took several days for tree removalists from Shepard’s Tree Service to organise a chopper to aid in the removal of the tree. The tree had to be chainsawed into over a dozen pieces and then hauled away by helicopter. Crew from HeliAust estimated some of the tree sections carried away weighed in at over 1.2 tons. The operation took over fours hours to complete.
