Council planners are proposing several alternatives to parking at the Bundeena Community Centre. The current unpaved parking has enough parking spots for upto fifty vehicles. Planners are reccommeding fourteen spots all of which would be paved and would also be restricted by a boom gate durring night hours. Another possibility is to remove parking facilities all together and have residents utilise street parking instead. Lastly, the other option is to leave the current parking facilities as is.

Council planner’s preference for reduced car parking stems in part to limit damage to the adjoining trees. A number of them have sustained damage from “car hoons” using the existing parking lot. The boom gates would also limit undesirable behaviour and would be lowered in the evening hours by Council appointed staff. For larger events which the fourteen spots would not suffice Council is recommending patrons use street parking along Liverpool St.

The plans would limit the usage of the existing parking area which backs on to the Pre-School as a children pickup/drop off point. While parents could use the front entrance along Bundeena Dr. they have safety concerns using it due to the amount of passing traffic.

Another option raised by somel residents is to go with the fourteen paved parking spots with the existing unpaved spaces left accessible for overflow parking. The current couincil plans would have the unpaved section fenced off.
