Sydney CBD? You’d be forgiven for thinking so but it’s our little town which proved yet again to be a popular destination for visitors during the summer holidays.

While normally a non-issue for most of the year Bundeena gets such an overflow of visitors during the holidays that parking spaces become as rare as hens teeth. This has become more of an issue with the latest upgrade to the main street which saw the loss of  half a dozen parking places.ImageImageThings usually hit a crisis stage when the Royal National Park closes off it’s popular destinations such as Wattamola & Bonnie Vale resulting in visitors destined for these areas heading to Bundeena instead. While normally a tolerant lot the parking and traffic chaos has resulted in veiled threats by some locals to introduce a Bundeena Toll at the entrance into town.

The shortage of parking on these popular days has resulted in some creative solutions including double and triple parking on walkways. Safety concerns have been raised in the past when the entrance into town along Bundeena Dr had cars parked on both sides of the road reducing traffic to one lane. In the event of a genuine emergency fire or ambulance vehicles would not be able to leave the town in a timely manner.
