A mysterious mist hovering over Maianbar Tuesday afternoon alarmed some residents into thinking it was a bush fire.

A group of residents having a luncheon party at Maianbar could not see the other side of the Port Hacking river. Meanwhile in Bundeena a witness who saw the mist said it was so thick it resembled smoke from a bush fire.
