About a dozen people testified against the plans for the proposed development. A number of residents raised concerns that the architecture as  well as the number of planned units did not suit the village character of  Bundeena. Local business owners, including the new owner of the IGA building, spoke with some questioning the business viability of the proposed two shops given the seasonal nature of business and the already vacated shops in the town centre. The owner of the adjoining home on Loftus St also raised concerns on the loss of her existing views and the impact of building construction. A number of the comments did not target specific problems with the DA and on several occasions Council’s barrister had to remind witnesses to keep their comments relevant to the DA proposal.

Only one resident testified in favour of the DA. He claimed additional evening restaurant facilities were required in Bundeena and that local Bed & Breakfast businesses in town would welcome this. He also sited examples of day trip visitors being turned off from long queues at existing food establishments. Image
