A Bundeena icon’s existence unexpectedly came to a fiery end. Video
The little red Kombi van operated by Bundeena Kayaks caught on fire in the line of duty. Owner Bruce Signal was reversing the Kombi when he saw flames coming from the rear. No kayaks fortunately were mounted on the roof at the time though a few life jackets were rescued from the cabin. Some attempts were made to douse the flames with water by hand but it took a quick response by the local fire brigade to get things under control.
Unfortunately the Kombi wasn’t insured but a dedicated Bruce was able to soldier on and take a group out on a Night Tour that same day.
