The planned upgrade for Bonnie Vale will be commencing over the coming months.
The upgrades include sealing of the existing road except for the day use area which will be relocated south. The relocation will enlarge the useable picnic area in the park.
The parking configuration in the day use area will change from it’s current open arrangement to a series of segregated parking bays separated by landscaping.
Among the new facilities to be installed for both camping and day-use include electric BBQ’s, picnic tables, an information shelter and rubbish bin stations.
The camping area will be expanded so that it now will extend to the centre of the Bonnie Vale precinct. This will allow for an increase to the number of campsites to 76 with 41 being walk-in sites and 35 being drive-in sites. Eleven of the sites will also allow for a box trailer and a vehicle. The camping area will be separated from the day use area with an automatic boom gate.
The new toilet block has been completed though the existing one is yet to be demolished. One item not mentioned in the schedule is the planned boat launch facility. The boat launch was to be the first available on the Port Hacking south shore. It was to be designed to be low impact with it being only a single lane and a maximum of ten trailer parking spots being available.
