Bundeena Art of Living

The 14th annual Bundeena Maianbar Art of Living Festival will combine music, markets and a special theme of Bridging the Gap to create an action packed day for all on Sunday March 15th.

Isolated by bush and sea on the southern fringe of Sydney, lies a haven of creativity, talent and diversity. The small coastal village of Bundeena in Sydney’s Royal National Park embraces its beautiful natural surroundings and its diverse population to thrive as a community. So proud of their little paradise oozing with creative juices,  Bundeena residents came together to create a free, fun and fabulous event to celebrate and share local social and cultural diversity and creative talent with the rest of the Sutherland Shire, Sydney and beyond.

The Art of Living Festival will celebrate its 14th year on Sunday, March 15 in the Bundeena Community Centre Park, corner of Bundeena Drive and Liverpool Street, Bundeena, and is set to be a bigger and better event than ever before. Two stages of free live music all day from some of the hottest local and Sydney wide musicians, an art exhibition showcasing the distinct talents of acclaimed Bundeena and Maianbar artists such as the award winning Garry Shead and Jia Wei Shen and a huge host of activities to keep the whole family entertained including free workshops, markets, food stalls and entertainment for children make the Art of Living Festival a stand out Sydney event not to be missed.

Internationally acclaimed Beatles tribute band The Beatels performing a Sgt. Pepper’s tribute in full costume will mix with local contemporary country singer/songwriter Brad Cole (pictured). Festival goers will chill out to the dynamic and eclectic roots sounds of local up and comer Paul Appelkamp and boogie on down to 50’s inspired rock ‘n’ roll band The Flaming Stars. Fresh, young and enthusiastic local singers, dancers and musicians including winners from Sutherland Shire Council’s Battle of the Bands Competition will share the stage with award winning pop-rock singer/songwriter Jordan Millar and local legends Moth Jam among many others.
Brad ColeBridging the GapThis year, the Art of Living Festival will use music and art not only as a way to share and celebrate local social and cultural diversity but also, with help from Festivals Australia and the Sutherland Shire Council, as a way of ‘Bridging the Gap’, the physical gap that exists between Bundeena and the rest of Sydney and more importantly the gaps that exists between cultures, ages and ways of life in Bundeena, the Sutherland Shire and beyond. This year’s festivities will focus on promoting acceptance, unity and a peaceful, egalitarian society- all elements which play a large part in the small community of Bundeena.

The diverse line-up of musicians from around the Sutherland Shire and Sydney, free vocal, signing and art workshops with the opportunity to share your newly found talents at the festival and a focus on youth are some of the mechanisms the Art of Living Festival is utilising to ‘Bridge the Gap’. The idyllic setting of the festival under the shade of the angophora trees and a short stroll from Bundeena’s pristine beaches could not be a better setting for bringing people together to celebrate and embrace social and cultural diversity.

Bring the whole family and come together to celebrate music, art and diversity. Celebrate the Art of Living.
