Motorcycle safety roadworks in the Royal National Park will be scheduled from May to September to improve safety for motorcyclists.
The aim of the roadworks includes:
- reducing run-off road crashes
- minimising the impact of crashes happening around curves along the road
- lowering the risks and impact of crashes for motorcyclists on the existing roadside
- discouraging motorcyclists from speeding.
Among the improvements being made are:
- replacing the existing guardrail safety barrier and raising it at three locations along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive
- installing motorcycle protection rails at three locations along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive, at a total length of 572 metres
- installing motorcycle warning signs at four locations towards the curved sections of Sir Bertram Stevens Drive.
- cleaning drains
- trimming of trees and vegetation to improve line of sight.
The work will be occur from 7am to 6pm during 30 weekdays between 15th May 2018 and 9th September 2018.
