Bundeena IGA Entrance
A construction mishap left several Bundeena business owners without phone services for several days.

Construction workers had been working on the rollout of electrical power to the development on the old Uniting Church grounds. This required them to access the electrical mains which run through the IGA parking lot. In the process of accessing the electrical lines they inadvertently cut several telephone lines leaving the Bundeena News Agency, Bundeena Pharmacy and  DVD by the Sea without phone service.

The lack of phone services severely impacted the operation of the businesses. In particular, the Pharmacy had to make alternate arrangements for the processing of medical supplies required for prescriptions on order. The News Agency was without phone service for five days resulting in the loss of several thousand dollars of lottery ticket sales.

Seeking compensation for the Bundeena business owners make prove tricky. The plans from which the construction crew were working from did not indicate the phone lines were present where they were cutting. If this holds true the business owners may have to pursue compensation from Telstra or their own insurance providers.
