NSW Liberals Promise Bundeena Ambulance Station
Thursday, 24 February 2011

NSW Liberal candidate for Heathcote Lee Evans has today announced that he has secured the funding from the Liberal/Nationals Coalition to deliver increased ambulance services to the Bundeena area.

“I am delighted to announce that if we win the state election on March 26 this year we will allocate $1.5 million in capital works spending for the provision of an ambulance station here in Bundeena,” said Mr Evans.

Shadow Health Minister Jillian Skinner also assured members of the local Ambulance Action Group that her government would move immediately to assign an ambulance and crew to the Bundeena area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“Unlike the current government we recognise there is an urgent need to act to save lives. We also need to ensure our ambulance staff are not overwhelmed in their jobs,” she said.

“For many years we’ve stood shoulder-to-shoulder with local residents in their fight for better ambulance services at Bundeena. The entire time successive Labor Health Ministers and the Local Labor MP have remained deaf to what is a life or death situation.”

Evans agreed: “Responding to emergencies at Bundeena and in other areas of the Royal National Park will now be quicker,” he said. “Securing this funding has been a priority for me and I’m proud to be standing here with the locals on a day when we’ve had a win.  I think the Ambos are heroes and they deserve our support.”
