The Notorious a replica of a 15th century caravel was moored overnight at Jibbon Beach.

The ship had sailed from Manly with the backing of a 25 knot northwesterly to make it’s way to Jibbon. The stopover was scheduled as part of it’s journey to the Royal Motor Yacht Club Port Hacking in Burraneer Bay where it will be on display daily from 11am to 4pm daily til the 27th September.

The caravel design which the Notorious is based on was developed by the Portuguese for exploration voyages of the Atlantic Ocean and West African coast. The Notorious was the brainchild of Graeme Wylie and his wife Felicite who crew the ship. Wylie’s started building it in 2001 and spent thousands of hours til it’s completion in 2011. It’s maiden voyage was on 17th January 2012 from Port Fairy to Geelong.
