A new high tech compact garbage bin is being trialled in Bundeena Maianbar.
The new bins, called Big Belly, are solar powered and compact the garbage as introduced allowing them to hold fives times the amount of trash of normal bins. The system is also a closed one so the attraction for vermin and deer is minimal. Bundeena Maianbar residents would appreciate this given the history of bin tipping deers. Council is also hoping Big Belly will also reduce costs in staff travel time as well as fuel.
Big Belly is currently located in Bundeena at the Brighton St. shops, Roger Summers Park and the entrance to Jibbon beach. Additional units are planned for the ferry wharf and the Maianbar shops.
