Local artist Garry Shead is donating Bundeena a scuplture by his late wife Judit.
The sculpture named Spring is made from cast bronze and depicts a young girl seated and will represent the serenity of the area. Sping is approximately 40cm tall and will sit on a carved sandstone block 75cm high and 60cm square. A small plaque with the name of the artist and sculpture will be fixed to the base. The sculpture is to be located in Summers Reserve near the entrance point of the ferry wharf. | Judit Shead was a recognised artist who had one of her works Aspiration publicly installed in Gerrale St. Cronulla. Judit resided in Bundeena for 25 years and spent eight of those years as the founding member of the Bundeena Maianbar Village Noise newspaper. She was also founding member of the Bundeena Maianbar Youth Committee which had raised over $40,000 to provide services for the youth of the area. Judit Shead passed away in May 2007 from pancreatic cancer. | |
Council is hoping to approve and install the sculpture in time for the first anniversary of Judit's death on May 8th.
