Almost every week I meet someone new from Bundeena or Maianbar who has some interest or passion in the creative side of life. I suppose that’s not too surprising. After all we are known as having one of the highest concentrations of artists in New South Wales and look around, we live in a truly inspiring place! And though all of us know about the Art Trail and have been to at least a few studios, you might be surprised to find that there are a lot of other creative people hiding in the woodwork. In fact that’s the reason for this column. I’ve found it so interesting meeting all of these people and finding out what their up to, that I thought I’d share it with the rest of you. And in the months to come that’s exactly what I intend to do.

So to kick-start this initiative, I’d like to first invite you to Bundeena’s Markets by the Sea. Thanks to the relentless efforts of the RSL Women’s Auxiliary, more than a dozen market stalls will be situated in the Hordens Reserve closest to the Wharf. The market will occur on the first Sunday of each month, come rain or shine, to coincide with the Art Trail. A number of creative people will be at this monthly event, and though the majority of the stalls will focus on arts and crafts there are a few other surprises in store, so be sure to check it out. We’ll also be seeing some changes to that whole park area, changes that will hopefully encourage some other creative sorts out into the open. Every market needs it’s musicians, so come on down and show us what you got!

In the meantime, I know there’s more of you lurking out there, sometimes shy, thinking that we’re not that interested in what your doing. Well that’s simply not true. I don’t care if it means dobbing in a friend, neighbor or relative, it’s all in the interest of our creative community and we want to know!  So to contact this intrepid reporter, discretion assured, (especially to the dobbers) call Marion on 9523 3758, or drop by the studio Something at Mary’s at 8 Mary St. Bundeena , for a chat in person.
