Latest newsletter from Bundeena Maianbar Toastmasters club.

Hi Everybody

We enjoyed a great informal meeting practicing our speeches for the upcoming Competition next meeting. We all appreciated the opportunity for feedback on where we can improve. Thank you to David for being our 'Target Speaker' at very short notice. A very interesting and inspiring speech on the Principles of Wing Chung. Good job David.

"We learn best in moments of enjoyment."

- Dr. Ralph C. Smedley, Founder, Toastmasters

GUESTS

Last meeting we welcomed Guest:  Amby Long and this week we welcomed,  Guest:  Alan Macindoe and hope Alan and Amby  will join us at our next  meeting and competition combined. We look forward to two potential new members. If either Amby or Alan have any questions regarding our club please do not hesitate to contact me.

MEETINGS - EVERY 1ST AND 3RD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH

We have decided to meet twice a month. With a meeting every first and third Thursday of each month. We will complete our manuals and improve as a result. Please remember to bring your manuals including your Competant Leadership Manual. If you do not have this manual let me know and I will arrange some  to be sent to us.  In the mean time have evaluations completed on you assignments each meeting and we can submit them into your manual when you receive it. With the completion of your  manuals and the CL Manual the club will earn recognition as a Distinguished Club, as well as invaluable feed back, personally.  Our membership is growing each time we meet which is wonderful, the more members we have the more interesting and diverse we become. Keep spreading the word about our wonderful, friendly club!!

INTERNATIONAL SPEECH AND EVALUATION CONTEST

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 19 February and as mentioned previously, it will be where we compete for the International Speech Contest.  We would like to invite Alicia to be our 'Target Speaker' for this evening for the Evaluation Contest.  Alicia's speech will be 5-7 mins. Alicia, if you are unable to attend please advise before the end of next week. Back up speaker could be Amby Long. Alicia could you kindly submit your membership form at our next meeting, your presence adds another dimesion to our club, as all new members do.

For Tips and Techniques for Giving Helpful Evaluations, look for a small booklet you may have received with your initial membership or go to www.toastmaster.org

The International Speech  and Evaluation Contest where the best from other clubs compete, will be held on Sunday 19 April 2009, at the Bundeena RSL from 2-5pm, in The Gunyah View Room.  Afternoon Tea will be served, ie, Sandwiches, Cake, Tea and Coffee, at $20 per head. Confirmation of attendance is 7 days before the event. We hope all Bundeena and Maianbar Toastmasters will attend.

DEBATING EVENING

Just a reminder for the Debate Evening with Engadine Toastmaster at Bundeena.  A topic needs to be decided.  Some subjects for thought are: 'Why do women make great navigators?' 'What is the difference in navigation skills in Men and Women?' Engadine is a mostly male membership, so this is why I am on the Male/Female subject.  I will not be in attendance so I will leave it to the membership to decide.

ATTENDANCE TO MEETINGS

Thank you to those members for their email letting me know they were unable to attend this weeks meeting.  If we know in advance that you are unable to attend it saves a lot of time at the beginning of each meeting.  Likewise for the meeting on 19 February.

FLYERS FOR INTERNATIONAL SPEECH AND EVALUATION CONTEST AND GENERAL FLYERS PROMOTING OUR CLUB

We need to move on with flyers for our hosting of the International Speech and Evaluation Contest and at the same time we would like to come up with a new and dynamic flyer for local letter box drop. All suggestions would be welcomed. We need a Marketing Guru to join our club.

Good luck to all in two weeks for the comp.  Keep practicing.
