Over a hundred locals gathered at Bundeena Community Hall to raise ongoing ambulance service concerns with shadow minister for health Jillian Skinner of the State Liberal Party.

Jillian Skinner was also accompanied by Liberal colleague John Ajaka who spoke at a public meeting in July along with Sutherland Shire Councillor Kevin Schreiber.

Skinner said the NSW Ambulance Services department was dysfunctional.  She did not believe services in the area were acceptable and the recent measures to regain rostering of local ambulance officers had not resulted in any significant improvement. She had concerns that the road through the Royal National Park was especially challenging to drive and required ambulance officers to be in a fresh state before taking call outs. She didn’t think the use of fire brigade staff was sufficient given they did not have paramedic training.Bundeena Ambulance   Bundeena Ambulance
A number of residents spoke about their experiences with ambulance services in Bundeena. Some had indicated they had received good service since a locally based officer was able to respond within five minutes but were worried that this was not guaranteed 24/7. Others though were not so fortunate with claims of having to wait two and half hours for an ambulance. Residents expressed frustration that a permanent solution was taking so long to be delivered.

The meeting was brought about by the Ambulance Action Group who are made up of Bundeena Maianbar residents arguing for a locally based ambulance station.
