Beach goers scurried for cover on a sunny Sunday afternoon as a helicopter performed a dramatic landing on Bundeena's Horderns beach. Video
Around 5pm an Ambulance NSW helicopter could be seen circling over Bundeena. However, contrary to the normal convention of landing at Bundeena Oval the helicopter landed directly on Horderns beach towards the wharf end just 200 meteres from the access bridge linking the beach to Brighton St. Before the landing visitors and locals were summoned by fire brigade staff to evacuate to Hordern's reserve.
| | | The helicopter had been called out after an elderly woman who was visiting the beach had complained of heart problems. The woman was situated in the middle of Horderns beach and was attended to by ambulance officers. Ambulance and fire brigade staff carried the woman in a stretcher to the awaiting helicopter. The woman was conscious and the heart issues were attributed to a problem with her pacemaker.
