The Saddles - Bundeena Drive
One dead and three injured in a car crash just before midnight on Tuesday. Video

The accident occurred at The Saddle located on Bundeena Drive when a green Holden Commodore left the roadway, ran down an embankment before slamming passenger-side first into a large gumtree at high speed. One of the occupants was able to crawl out of the car but the other three were trapped for an hour until rescue workers removed the roof  to free them

The driver was a 19-year-old Oyster Bay man holding a Learner’s Permit license. He was accompanied by three passengers all from Jannalli. Kim O'Brien a 17 year old female sitting in the rear seat suffered massive injuries and died at the scene. A 21 year old man suffered multiple injuries and was air lifted to St. George Hospital where he remains in critical condition. The driver along with an 18 year old woman were transported to St. George Hospital  by ambulance and are in stable condition.

The crash occurred just 2 days after a new law came into force banning first year provisional drivers from carrying passengers between 11pm and 5am. The L Plater driver was also driving illegally as none of the passengers held a full license.

Police are continuing investigations and are calling for any witnesses to the crash to come forward. They are seeking in particular three males who provided assistance to the accident victims shortly after the crash.
