Meeting Minutes - January 27th 2009

Moved that the minutes of the meeting held on the 25 November 2008 be adopted.

Treasurers Report

Moved that the treasurer's report be accepted.

Correspondence Outwards

Moved that outward correspondence be endorsed

We have several letters that remain unanswered after a period of about 6 months.
Moved that the Secretary write directly to the departments concerned, requesting a reply to our correspondence

Moved that the secretary write a follow-up letter to council re the untidy state of the Mars Corporation site on the corner of Loftus and Brighton Streets. In addition the safety fence has holes in it and the gate is hanging open.

Committee Reports


Alan Petersen will prepare a report on the safety audit for the next meeting

Neil advised that the 82A review of no 42-44 Brighton St had been approved by the Director, John Brunton, under delegated authority.  The changes and conditions have yet to be verified.

Report on Draft Bundeena Creek Management Plan
Helen provided a submission for the Bundeena Creek Draft Management Plan, Helen also noted that the property adjacent to the creek at Scarborough St is for sale. Council has previously expressed interest in purchasing this lot

Moved that a letter be sent to council informing them of a lack of communication on matters of interest to residents eg. The release of the draft report as shown above

General Busines


Moved that we write to council requesting that the road verges of Bundeena Drive be cleared as soon as possible. The over-hanging brush is a hazard to vehicles, particularly large trucks and buses. It is also desirable to have a wide cleared roadway in the bush fire season to provide a safer passage for fire fighters.

Tamsin Clarke addressed the meeting to explain that Bundeena/Maianbar and other similarly zoned areas in the Shire are exempt from the new state planning controls for exempt and complying development. Theses controls permit a single or two-storey dwelling to be built with no notification to adjacent neighbours and no right of appeal. Correspondence with council intimated that council may not be aware of this exemption. Tamsin tabled a letter to be sent to council.
Moved that the letter be sent to council seeking to clarify the position.

Extension of time to 9.30

Moved that we write to council re road and drain reconstruction in Bournmouth St

Moved that council be advised of the large puddle on the wharf at the disabled parking area
