Bonnie Vale Update
Sunday, 24 June 2007
Bonnie Vale Upgrade Plans
The Bonnie Vale recreational area next to Bundeena will be closing in July for 3 months to allow for planned  works.

While access to the site will be restricted to the public a special fenced walkway will be constructed to allow pedestrian access between Bundeena and Maianbar through the Bonnie Vale grounds.

The works are part of a planned upgrade to Bonnie Vale which will included a new sealed road, an increase of camping sites from 44 to 76 and new toilet block facilities.

While the National Parks Bonnie Vale master plan still includes a boat ramp it will not be built as part of this current construction. The current boat ramp area which is under the jurisdiction  of Sydney Waterways and not National Parks still needs to be pass several approval hurdles before it can be constructed. Among these are Sydney Waterways, NSW Fisheries and NSW Ministry of the Environment. National Parks have also indicated if and when the ramp is constructed it will not be concrete based due to the tidal nature of the sand bars of the Port Hacking.

Another significant item to be upgraded during this phase is the old wooden bridge connecting to Maianbar. It will be replaced with a modern based metal bridge. The current bridge also houses a Sydney Water pipe which will also be upgraded from the current metal to PVC.
