Woman With a Black Dog

Have you seen the woman with a black dog overlooking Horderns beach?

The sculpture is located along the new footpath across from Bundeena IGA and is positioned so the woman with her dog is overlooking Horderns beach.

It was created by NSW artist Ian Swift and is titled: Woman with a black dog.

The sculpture was made possible by the efforts of the Bundeena Maianbar Chamber of Commerce and thru a grant by Sutherland Shire Council. It is the fourth sculpture that has been installed in Bundeena as part of the Chamber of Commerce’s sculpture walk initiative.

The first sculpture installed was Nesting in 2011 by local artist Lee Bethel. This was followed by Two dogs in a house, on a boat in the water in 2012 and then Jack in 2013.

The redevelopment of Summers Reserve interrupted the installation of sculptures due to the heavy construction and earthworks that took place.

Chamber committee member Marion Stehouwer has been spearheading the sculpture walk since it’s inception. She reported that there are three more sculptures already in the pipeline to be installed over the next year or two.
