A runaway truck overshot the bridge at Audley Weir crashing into the waters of the Hacking River.

The accident happened on the morning of October 28th. The 29 year old male driver of the mini-skip truck was transporting a full load of building rubble when it crashed into the water.

The cause of the crash was due to brake failure. The driver had tried both the foot and hand brakes to no avail resulting in the truck veering on to two wheels before nose diving into the water.

It took six hours for authorities to winch the truck out of the water using a crane.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sutherland Hospital .
